StreamTV Show Denver 2026: A Glimpse Into the Future of Streaming TV

Conversations at StreamTV Show Denver 2026 made one thing clear: the streaming industry is entering a new chapter. As free ad-supported models mature and CTV continues to evolve, the focus is shifting beyond growth alone to sustainable business models, better viewer experiences, smarter advertising, and more meaningful measurement.

Throughout the week, our thought leaders contributed to those conversations onstage and beyond. From the future of FAST monetization and content discovery, to contextual targeting and viewer engagement, our keynote, panel, and happy hour discussions all explored how publishers, streamers, and advertisers can adapt to an increasingly competitive and complex landscape.

Wurl keynote: The FAST Channel Reckoning

One of the week’s standout moments was our CEO, Dave Bernath’s, keynote, which challenged attendees to rethink the business practices and ensure the FAST industry’s success.

“Behind the explosive growth lies an uncomfortable truth,” Dave said. “The business model for FAST channels is really under strain from some fundamental flaws that need to be addressed in order to ensure a bright future.”

Rather than relying solely on launching more channels or expanding inventory, Dave argued that the next phase of growth will come from improving these fundamentals: shifting to a financial model that supports long-term sustainability, creating fairer and more transparent access to data, and helping viewers discover content more easily.

His message resonated throughout the conference, reflecting many of the conversations taking place both onstage and across the event floor as the industry considers what comes next for streaming. In a recap of the keynote presentation, NCS wrote: “A business cannot grow its way out of economics that get worse with every additional hour of viewing. Audience growth has been masking the problem, not solving it.”

Hot topics: Sports, viewer attention, and advertising on streaming TV

Wurl leaders joined three additional panel discussions throughout the week, covering topics from sports monetization to the battle for viewer attention on streaming TV.

In a panel moderated by Jason Damata of TVREV on “How To Reach A Mass Audience When There’s No Mass Media,” Ingrid Mariotti, Wurl’s VP of Business Development, Americas, talked about the balance between mass reach and the right reach for both content owners and advertisers. “For our advertising partners, it’s becoming more and more important that it become the right reach across this vast ecosystem,” Ingrid said. “A more engaged viewer is always going to be more valuable when you have a viewer in the right mindset at the right time and place versus just a passive user.”

While each session approached the future of streaming from a different angle, they all reinforced a common theme: long-term success will depend on creating better experiences for viewers while giving publishers and advertisers the tools and data they need to grow.

A glimpse into the future of streaming TV

The conversations continued offstage during our reception, where attendees, partners, and friends of Wurl gathered for an evening centered around this year’s theme: the future of streaming TV.

Guests got a glimpse of what might be in store through custom tarot card readings, wandering psychics, and on-theme giveaways, including Magic 8 Ball keychains. More importantly, the reception gave everyone a chance to reconnect, meet new faces, and continue the conversations sparked throughout the conference. Special thanks to Matthew Keys, publisher at TheDesk.net, for capturing the spirit of the evening in his recap of the event.
